Davina McCall and husband Matthew Robertson have decided to separate after 17 years of marriage.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, the TV presenter confirmed the news, adding that the couple's three children, Holly, 15, Tilly, 13 and Chester, 10, were their number one priority going forward.

"I am very sad to say that Matthew and I have separated," she said.

"Our amazing children are our number one priority, above everything else so therefore we ask for as much space and respect from the media as possible while our family goes through this difficult time."

The news comes just days after Davina posted a cryptic Instagram post about the 'mistakes' she has made in her life.

The pair appeared to be happily married after renewing their vows in 2015.

"I’m very lucky because as far as I know, I’ve married a really faithful guy," Davina said at the time.

"When I think of Matthew and me in our 70s I see us on a world cruise with entertainment every night!" she shared.

However, she did admit that her and Matthew had attended couple's counselling after repeating the same argument over and over again.

Davina admitted, "It might have been about different things but it would be about the same thing and it would get to the same point and I thought, ‘We’re never going to get past this particular row."

The pair have appealed for privacy during this difficult time.
