It's true that time really does pass in the blink of an eye.

First our beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer turned two decades old - two decades - and now another series which inadvertently gave us unrealistic expectations when it came to teen romance is 20: Dawson's Creek.

We can't believe it - and some of us feel way old.

But we're not the only ones reminiscing about times gone by; this week, star James Van Der Beek took to Instagram to share a photo of some of the cast from the first week the cast was on set - way back in 1997.

“Squad ‘97," he wrote alongside the photograph of himself and his baby-faced co-stars Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson and Katie Homes.  "I’d known these people all of seven days when this pic was taken. 20 years ago this week, the little pilot we shot in that small town for that fledgeling network aired, changed our lives and launched our careers,” the now 40-year-old reminisced.

“Thank you to the Wilmington, North Carolina crew and community who raised us & kept us sane, thank you to the many talented writers and producers who gave of your hearts talents and put up with us. And thank you especially to the fans of the show. It’s a funny relationship we have … your experience of this project is what you saw on camera, while my memories are mostly what I experienced off of it," he continued, adding that he still hasn't seen many of the show's finished episodes, preferring to commit to the role completely, but leave it at that.

He said he felt it was "healthier at a certain point to just commit 100 percent on the day and let it go completely.”

How many would like to see a reboot of this cult series?
