A superfood can be described as a nutrient-rich food, which is considered to be particularly beneficial for a person's health and well-being.

 

Superfoods, however, are not special items you purchase in a health store.

 

These nutritious treats are everyday foods, that all of us have in our fridge. 

 

Take a peak at our eight favourite everyday foods, that all have superfood status.

 

 

1. Blueberries

Blueberries are packed full of antioxidants, and some research also shows that eating blueberries can reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

 

 

2. Apples

Apples can lower cholesterol to fight heart disease, while also keeping your bones strong. Remember what they say, "an apple a day keeps he doctor away."

 

 

3. Almonds

These delightful tree nuts lower blood sugar levels, reduce blood pressure and lower cholesterol levels. They can also promote weight loss.

 

 

4. Avocados

Avocados are an excellent source of potassium, fibre, and many other vitamins. Avocados are also loaded with healthy fats that improve overall body function. 

 

 

5. Yoghurt

Yoghurt contains bacteria that cleans the digestive system. It also contains beneficial yeast which destroys destructive bacteria that can cause infections and viruses in the intestine. 

 

 

6. Lemons
