Fans of this much-loved soap star will be celebrating alongside her this morning following the news that she is set to exchange vows with her boyfriend of one year, Marc Humphreys.

Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler in longrunning show EastEnders, spent a tumultuous four years with former partner, Adam Cottrell, before eventually calling time on their relationship two years ago.

32-year-old Natalie, who shares a five-year-old daughter named Eliza with Adam, endured physical abuse at the hands of her ex-partner, who admitted to assaulting her twice during their relationship - an admission which earned him 120 hours community service in 2011.

Despite this, Natalie decided to give their relationship another chance after initially calling off their engagement - a choice which she stood by at the time, saying: "It was my decision. I'm really glad I gave it another chance."

Commenting on the nature of the relationship she shared with Adam, Natalie insisted they were both guilty of lashing out and felt compelled to work on the union for the sake of their daughter.

"When kids are involved you almost have to. I can always say to Eliza, 'Mummy tried, but it didn't work out," she reflected as she explained her choices.

However, the couple eventually called it quits for good before Natalie began dating freelance camera man, Marc, who has worked on the set of the BBC soap

Commenting on the wonderful news of their engagement, a source told The Sun: "Family and friends are thrilled for Natalie and have been buying gifts for them to celebrate."

We're delighted for the happy couple!
