You should consult with your G.P. or ophthalmologist who will be able to examine the eye and discern a cause and treatment for dry eye.

Tests may include:

  • Using a slit lamp to examine the film of tears. A dye may be put in the eye to make the tear film more visible.
  • Schirmer’s test measures the rate of tear production using a calibrated paper wick placed on the edge of the eyelid.

If dry eye is diagnosed then treatment will be prescribed by your G.P. or ophthalmologist.
