  • Nausea

Likely Cause:     Gastroenteritis (Stomach Flu)

  • Sever cold symptoms (See Colds) come on abruptly
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Dry cough       
  • Possible fever
  • Possible vomiting
  • Headache
  • Body aches
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of appetite
  • Wheezing
Likely Cause:     Flu
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Diarrhoea
Likely Cause:     Infection from a parasite
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Intestinal distress (diarrhoea or constipation) while taking antibiotics
Likely Cause: Side effect of medication

  • Extreme fatigue
  • Convulsions
  • Unconsciousness
Likely Cause:     Poisoning  (seek medical attention immediately)

  • Foul smelling stool
  • Loss of weight
Likely Cause:     Lactose Intolerance (rare in young children)


Symptoms   
  • Hives
  • Swelling
  • Eczema
  • Laboured breathing
  • Wheezing
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Symptoms worsen after eating
Likely Cause:     Food Allergy (If your child is having trouble breathing, seek medication attention immediately)
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Rash
  • Hives
  • Trouble breathing
  • Wheezing
  • Swelling
  • Vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Blood in the stool
  • Does not gain weight
  • Symptoms occur within a short period of time after drinking milk
Likely Cause:    Allergy to milk  (If your toddler has trouble breathing, seek medical attention immediately.)

  • Fever higher than 37.8 degrees Celsius
  • Ear ache
  • Upset stomach
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Fluid in the ear
Likely Cause:     Ear Infection
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Frequent loose bowel movements
  • Stool looks as if it contains undigested foods or mucus
  • Foul smelling stool
  • Weight gain and growth are normal
Likely Cause:     Toddler's Diarrhoea 
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Diarrhoea when drinking a high volume of fruit juice
Likely Cause:     Diet 
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Diarrhoea that is chronic or reoccurs frequently
  • Bulky stool that is foul-smelling
  • Symptoms worsen after eating particular foods
  • Slow growth or weight gain
Likely Cause:     Malabsorption (poor absorption of nutrients) 
 
 
Symptoms   
  • Has a chronic cough
  • Gets colds often
  • History of sinusitis
  • Coughs up a yellow or greenish phlegm
  • Eats well but does not gain weight
  • Foul smelling stools that are heavy and greasy
  • Skin has a salty taste
Likely Cause:     Cystic Fibrosis
