Once our babies are born healthy, we’re happy – but one very special tot has been making headlines around the world thanks to her rather unique measurements.

According to reports, a young woman in India has given birth to what doctors are referring to as ‘the heaviest female infant ever born’.

The baby, whose name has not yet been released, weighed 15 pounds and robbed Massachusetts baby Carisa Rusack – born weighing 14lbs 5oz, in 2014 – of her record.

The baby was reportedly delivered via Caesarean-section, to her 19-year-old mother, known only by the name Nandini. Nandini herself is 14.5 stone and 5ft 9in tall.

The child has been hailed as ‘really big and beautiful’, with Dr Venkatesh Raju telling local media: "She is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world."

Both mum and baby are doing well after the birth.

Records and measurements aside, congratulations to this new mother on the arrival of her bundle of joy.

SHARE with a fellow mum who welcomed a whopper herself.
