Does your baby have dry skin? This brand is our go-to

Ahead of Eczema Awareness Week (September 15-22), AVEENO® Baby have shared new research which reveals that, amongst those who have a child with a skin condition, 61 percent claim their child’s dry or irritated skin would flare up at least once a week, with 11 percent claiming that their child’s flare up can last up to five to seven days.  Moreover, eight in 10 parents of children with eczema visit a healthcare professional (HCP) at least once a year to get eczema related advice, with almost one in five (18 percent) visiting a HCP once every one to three months.

The study found that 45 percent of parents who have children with eczema say that certain laundry products would be most likely to trigger their child’s eczema, with almost four in 10 (39 percent) claiming stress triggers their skin condition and a further 29 percent claiming a flare up when the pollen count is high. Three quarters of parents (75 percent) claim to use products every day to help alleviate skin condition symptoms for their child.

The makers of AVEENO® Baby are now thrilled to introduce AVEENO® Baby Dermexa to the AVEENO® Baby range, which cleanses, soothes, moisturises and helps protect against very dry, itchy skin. Formulated with oats and ceramides, the products offer fast and effective relief from dryness and irritation and help to strengthen the skin’s natural barrier and lock in moisture. The Dermexa products are also suitable for use on little ones prone to eczema.

Commenting on the research, Paula Moriarty, Children’s Nurse and Professional Skincare Consultant for AVEENO® Baby, says: “Skin conditions such as dry and irritated skin, sensitive skin and eczema can be a stressful experience for parents and children. However, it is great to see that two thirds (67 percent) of parents we surveyed who have children with eczema are aware of the benefits of using topical emollients and we know that parents who have children with skin conditions are well-informed, with 65 percent stating they can differentiate between eczema and the likes of dry or irritated skin.”
