Ed Sheeran has had a whirlwind few years since he appeared on the music scene back in 2011. From Grammy awards to number one albums, and from duets with Beyoncé to sold-out stadium tours. It’s safe to say the former busker has had one hell of a successful career so far.

However, the Thinking Out Loud singer recently revealed that he would give up his thriving music career for one very special reason. Speaking to the Daily Star, the Brit award winner admitted that he will wave goodbye to his music career once he becomes a dad.

The Galway Girl singer shared, “My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids.”

We all know that parenthood is a major responsibility, so we completely understand where the singer-songwriter is coming from.

We barely have time to catch up on episodes of The Crown after completing our mummy duties, so we can’t imagine Ed will have time to go on a world tour or write an entire album when there are little ginger-haired babies running around the house.

The Shape Of You singer admitted that the chart success and stadium tours won’t matter when he becomes a dad, “I am going to be like, 'I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of'.”

"It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, 'I want to be a good father',” he added.

Last week, Ed announced his engagement to his girlfriend of two years, Cherry Seaborn. He shared the wonderful news on Instagram alongside an adorable polaroid photo of the pair.

He wrote, “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”
