Feeling overwhelmed and overly busy can leave you feeling more than a little stressed, and while it is a common part of daily life it is not something that we should have to put up with. Trying to juggle a family and a career can be extremely trying, but when you factor in stress at the office then you are heading for trouble.

However, eliminating the amount of stress you have to deal with on a daily basis can go a long way to helping the juggling run a little smoother.

1. Remove any distractions

The more distractions we have, the more stressed we are likely to feel. Try to cut down the amount of distractions you experience on daily basis, if possible, and prioritises what needs to be done and when.

2. Sleep well

You need to ensure you have a good night’s sleep every night in order to be able to work to the best of your ability. The more tired you are the less able you feel you can cope.

3. Eat a proper healthy diet

In order to be able to complete tasks as effectively as possible it is important you eat a proper healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables. The better able you feel you can cope the better for your stress levels.

4. Move away from your desk

Get up, move away from your desk and do a few stretches. If you are a little self-conscious about doing them in front of people head to the bathroom! The most effective one is to stand up straight, bring your arms up over your head and try to touch the ceiling as you stand on your tiptoes.

5. Take a deep breath

After a stressful meeting or a particularly trying conversation take a deep breath before slowly exhaling out all your stress.  Spend one minute breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth and you will instantly feel better.
