You might be in the midst of menopause, or it could be on your mind.

It can be a delicate time emotionally and physically as you adjust to the various hormonal changes in your body.

Challenges when it comes to weight gain and other distressing symptoms such as hot flushes, all accompanied by potential changes in mood (thanks to your hormones) can be among the varying side effects.

It is a struggle Ruth Langsford has opened up about on This Morning.

A viewer by the name of Jessica had rung in and opened up about the menopause and how it had affected her weight in particular - and the distress this caused her.

"You get depressed because everywhere you look you see Love Island models. You get the middle aged spread and your weight is getting thicker and thicker and everything you do, nothing helps," said the caller.

Ruth was all too familiar with Jessica's admission, saying "I know the feeling!"

"It completely affects my ability to lose weight, I try not to let it ruin my life but at least you're doing those things and you're going to boot camp. You're trying your best," added the 58-year-old.

Later that evening, Ruth took to her Instagram to show how she is combatting the problem and embracing the menopause with two killer workouts.

The host captioned the video: "Circuit training with @fitwithfrank tonight....30 seconds of each exercise, repeated 3 times with 1 minute rest in between....HARD WORK!!"

Her followers adored her determination and effort that she pumped into the circuit and the plank.

"I wish I had you're stamina Ruth. Terrific," said one user.

"That’s truly inspirational!!" added another.

Ruth always keeps it real which you can hear throughout her fitness posts.

Staying true to who she is, on the This Morning segment, she reminded Jessica that the number on the scale doesn't define who you are and your life.

"As long as you're enjoying your life and living your life it's not all about your weight. Jessica, enjoy your life, I'm sure you look great," said Ruth to the concerned caller.
