Raising a child comes with its fair share of obstacles to overcome, which is why scientists have been gearing so much of their research towards demystifying the many struggles of a parent.

The latest research to come from Australia has suggested how to make kids enjoy healthy eating – and it’s a lot simpler than you might think.

According to the research, carried out by a team at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation at Queensland University of Technology, feeding babies fruit and veg from a young age can help them to develop a taste for healthy foods as they grow up.

The team found that 14-month-old babies who regularly ate fruit and veg were less likely to be fussy eaters by the age of four years.

Publishing the findings in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the scientists observed how food preferences are developed as early as in the first two years of a child’s life.

Commenting on the findings, lead author Kimberley Mallan said: “The take-home message for parents is pretty simple: introduce your toddler to a range of healthy foods early…this means offering your child a variety of different fruits and vegetables.”
