Fatherhood has clearly had a major impact on all aspects of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s life, and his decision to donate his and wife Priscilla’s company shares caused ripples online. However, it’s a simple photo of his daughter that has set tongues wagging on the social media site this week.

The entrepreneur has come in for criticism from parents who are against vaccinating young children, after posing with daughter Max as she waited to get her shots.

“Doctor’s visit – time for vaccines!” wrote the 31-year-old, beneath a very sweet father-daughter shot from the doctor’s surgery.

It wasn’t long before the new father faced the wrath of the ‘anti-vaxxers’ however, and a number of followers started a debate in the comment section.

Doctor's visit -- time for vaccines!

“Do you honestly think that a beautiful, healthy newborn baby needs injections of neurological toxins to become safe for the public? Really?” wrote one user, whose comment was ‘liked’ a whopping 222 times.

Meanwhile, others branded vaccines ‘poison’, and even referenced the long disproved false connection between autism and the MMR vaccine.

Those with differing opinions hit back just as hard, with hundreds of Zuckerberg’s followers thanking him for sending a positive message about childhood vaccination.

“Thank you for being sensible. Thank you for doing what’s right, and also for showing everyone else that it’s the right thing to do, as well,” wrote one father.
