At such a heartbreaking time, it’s lovely to see family and friends rallying around this young couple to ensure they are able to give their son a good send off

Little Jaxx was born 11 weeks premature and his mother and father, Courtney Moss and Brandon West, had just one month with the little boy before he passed away from a bacterial infection.

Talking to the Manchester Evening News, his mum, Courtney, said that little Jaxx was doing well despite being born nearly three months early.

“Jaxx was doing really well. He weighed just 1lb 14ozs when he was born and his weight increased to 2lbs 11ozs. He was taken off oxygen and was breathing on his own for three weeks but his body couldn’t cope with the infection. He was a much-loved little boy and he touched so many people’s hearts,” she said.

It was only when the young couple left the neonatal intensive care unit in Bolton Royal Hospital did they realise what an amazing thing their friends and family had done for them.

“We really appreciate everyone’s support and we can’t thank the hospital staff enough for everything they did for us. They cared for Jaxx amazingly well and made us feel very welcome. We were there with Jaxx every day and we held him lots and gave him cuddles and kisses. We were able to help feed him, change his nappy and have skin on skin contact,” said 19-year-old Brandon.

Talking about why they set up the page, which has so far raised £1,100, Tracy West, Brandon’s aunt said: “They were only with their little boy for four weeks and we want to help them to give Jaxx a good send-off.”
