This weekend, Saturday 1st September, there will be lots of fun activities for the family at Sandown Park Racecourse, as they host their annual Family Fun Day. A star studded line-up will join Sparkie, the Sandown Park mascot, for thrilling racing action and free entertainment for kids.
 
You will have the unique opportunity to meet talented and original picture book author and illustrator Lauren Child where she will be signing a selection of all her books, including the BAFTA award winning series Charlie and Lola. Copies of her books will be available to buy at the racecourse.
 
For little girls who love ponies, the famous Thelwell ponies will be on display and visitors will be able to purchase some of the merchandise as well as chat to Norman Thelwell’s family members. Norman was best known for his humorous cartoons of little girls and their ponies.
 
There will be plenty of activities taking place at the Esher venue to keep the kids entertained. There will be a Gold Cup inflatable assault course, themed craft workshop for children of all ages, a balloon modeller, face painting plus children’s favourites Ben & Holly from Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom will be making personal appearances.
 
Curious Company presents a unique piece of outdoor musical theatre inspired by Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Join in with the Mad Hatter’s tea part where a show will be put on for race-goers.  Watch the Mad Hatter lose his teapot while the March Hare, the Dormouse and Alice herself all take part in the madness. You can also join in with The Queen of Hearts Croquet and become a hoop or a hedgehog!
 
All these activities are free of charge. Adults tickets booked in advance are just £20 for Grandstand Admission and £25 for Premier Enclosure. Children under 18 accompanied by an adults go free. Enjoy the sensational Summer Sizzler package with food, drink, a bet and racecard included.
