Die-hard romantics who championed this star's latest relationship may be feeling somewhat deflated following the news that the star himself puts little emphasis on marriage.

Brian McFadden, who has journeyed up the aisle twice, has recently revealed that his perspective on divorce and separations is far from traditional.

Acknowledging society's changing perspective on relationships, the famous dad-of-two, who recently split from Vogue Williams, admits he doesn't see marriage as the be-all and end-all.

With a nod to his cousins across the pond, Brian explained his position on marriage and subsequent divorce, saying: "I have lived in America, in LA and New York and this is normal. People get married all the time."

The 35-year-old singer, who also enjoyed a high-profile engagement with Australian singer Delta Goodrem, then compared this approach with that of his native Ireland.

"Irish people are so used to meeting someone, getting married, having kids and then spending the next 40 years hating each other but living under the same roof," he surmised.

Brian, who spent four years married to Kerry Katona and three years married married to Vogue, has what some may consider a refreshing take on marital dissolution.

"It doesn’t always have to be some big World War where people start fighting and hating each other. Everyone should just live their own lives by their own rules," he insists.

Refusing to let his past taint his future, the singer, who is due to release new single Call On Me Brother, gave a brief summation of his stance on relationships, simply saying: "If people break up, they break up and it's not as big a deal as people make it out to be."

It is understood that Brian and Vogue are on good terms despite the break-down of their relationship.
