Ever since discovering that she was carrying the BRCA2 gene, doting mum-of-two and Liberty X star Michelle Heaton has spoken incredibly bravely and candidly about the life-changing impact it has had on her. However, given just how sensitive a topic it is, you would expect that health professionals would approach it appropriately.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to have been the case this week for the star, who took to Instagram to share the ‘blunt’ letter she received from the NHS, reminding her that she no longer has a cervix.

Michelle, who is mum to four-year-old daughter Faith and 15-month-old son Aaron Jay, previously underwent a double mastectomy, a hysterectomy and an ovariectomy.

In an emotionally-charged post, she took to Instagram today to share a letter which read: “We have been advised that your name should be removed from the list of women eligible for cervical screening. This is because your medical records indicate that you do not have, or no longer have, a cervix.”

Sharing her thoughts on the letter, Michelle wrote: “Well…I do love the NHS…But maybe there’s a reason why it’s NHS Direct. A simple human emotion like ‘I’m sorry to hear that’ would have made this so much better for me to read.”

As you can imagine, Michelle’s fans and followers were quick to pass on messages of support, with a number of them calling for an apology to be made over the ‘awful’ and ‘blunt’ letter.
