Being in the public eye undoubtedly comes with its fair share of negatives, and this latest report on the Duchess of Cambridge proves that all too well.

According to reports, the Palace has been forced to step up the Duchess’ security amid claims that she has an estimated 220 stalkers.

Officers are said to be already combing the internet to identify legitimate threats against Kate ahead of her reported due date in April.

Addressing the latest rumours, former head of royal protection for the Metropolitan Police Dai Davies said that such an increase in security is par for the course ahead of any milestone event for the Royal family.

“They give rise to a greater likelihood of an incident. If you look back through history the greatest threat to the Royal family, apart from the IRA, has been fixated individuals,” said Davies.

He added: “Prevention is one of the key areas because in about 70% of cases where there have been attacks, the fixated person has indicated before the incident that they are going to do something.”

While the royals are no doubt prepped for instances such as these, we can’t imagine how terrifying the reality of it must be, especially when you are pregnant.
