It is a subject that many mums out there are often too afraid to discuss, but thankfully, the topic of postpartum depression and anxiety is starting to be raised and normalised by people and organisations the world over.

One such person is filmmaker Jill Krause, who travelled the US to capture the stories of mothers who have endured and survived the conditions.

Krause met with and recorded the stories of various survivors of postpartum depression and anxiety, touching on everything from their lowest points to their recoveries.

She went on to put together a truly powerful edit in which each mother shares their own story of struggle and survival, and the end result is something that every parent should watch.

Commenting on the short, Krause said: “I knew this would be a powerful experience before I started, but I was surprised by how truly honoured I felt listening to these women. Each one was different – different stages of struggle and healing, and different battles.”
