Travelling with a baby is tough. Not impossible. But tough.

And while we, as parents, try to do all we can to not only ensure our little ones stay happy and healthy throughout the entire trip, but also that fellow passengers are not impeded on too much.

However, things are bound to happen and there are just a few things we’d like those travelling without kids to know about:

1. "It’s a hell of a lot harder than you might think"

You crawled out of bed two hours before you had to arrive at the airport; we haven’t slept since the night before because we could only pack when Baby was asleep. Be nice to us.

2. "My baby’s crying affects me a lot more than it does you"

Not only am I worried about my infant but I am also aware that you are getting a little bit agitated by their crying. Disapproving looks aren’t helping anyone - I’m trying my best.

3. “No, I am not ignoring them”

I just need a few minutes to catch my breath. You can pop headphones into your ears to drown out their noise, I can’t.

4. “Yes, I have a lot of stuff. Yes, I need it ALL”

Babies come with a lot of baggage and I’m not taking over the cabin hold for the sake of it. Try carrying everything AND a baby and get back to me if you’re still annoyed.

5. “Trapping me in the window seat while you sleep in the aisle seat is making my life hell”

I’m trying to keep my baby happy so as not to disturb you but walking around with them is my only option and I said, I don’t want to disturb you. Please switch seats.

6. “I am really grateful to you for putting my bags in the cabin lock”

My quick thanks while I settled Baby on my lap may not have seemed grateful but I am. Truly.
