The year 2016 has been a mixed bag weather-wise so far - but the summer is definitely about to get going later this week.

That's because Aldi is re-releasing it's high-end Wagyu steak beef burgers. Normally in a posh restaurant in Tokyo - where the meat has become immensely popular - the New Zealand produce is priced at an eye-watering £120.

But amazingly, the discount supermarket is offering up two this week for just... £2.99.

Wagyu is widely considered to be among the best meat in the world. It will hit shelves this Thursday, August 4 and is once again expected to be a total sell-out.

Earlier this year, Aldi released the same burgers to critical acclaim - and they proved to be a HUGE hit with shoppers, selling-out in lightning-quick time.

The speciality beef comes from cattle that are bred and grass-fed on open New Zealand pastures, according to Aldi.

It also has a “good coverage of marbling” which makes the steak especially tender and succulent.

During the supermarket's first-release of Wagyu burgers, Manchester-based chef Simon Rimmer told The Telegraph that he was initially "sceptical" about the quality Aldi could deliver - but he added upon tasting it: "You get a really good depth of flavour and melt-in-the-mouth texture.”
