Thought the most difficult part about your baby was the night feeds?! Well, morning feeds are a whole different ball game.

You’ve spent the last eight hours waking every three hours to feed your infant and now it’s 6am and you would love just ten minutes to yourself to make a cup of tea, but your little one is not going to make it easy.

When you have a newborn to care for, mornings seem to merge into the night and only for the sun coming up at six do you even notice the difference; here are eight ways to get through the morning feeds:

Just go with the flow

Don’t stress yourself to get other kids out on time – try to call in outside help if possible. You are tired - no sorry, exhausted - and getting stressed is not going to help the situation!

Don’t bother getting dressed, yet

Unless you absolutely have to leave the house, don’t bother getting dressed – you don’t want to start the day with baby sick down your back!  Wait until feeds are done so you'll get to wear a clean outfit for an hour or two, at least...

Put on the TV

Whether you are breastfeeding or bottle feeding, pop on the telly and relax in front of the TV while your little one gets their first feed of the day. What a way to start the day!

Listen to the radio

If the TV isn’t your thing, switch on the radio and lose yourself in morning talk shows...

Get someone else to make you tea

Concentrate on your baby and ask someone else to make your tea. No one there to help? Well leave your own breakfast for after baby’s – you won’t be able to enjoy it otherwise!

Make it different to your night feeds

Distinguish your morning feeds from your night feeds if only for you own sanity. So whether it’s 6, 7 or even 8am, get up and go downstairs, otherwise you’ll just end up spending the day in bed – not that that’s a bad thing or anything!

Get family members involved

Don't think you should do it all on your own - if there are plenty of hands to help out use them. The mornings are tough enough.

Put them down for a nap

After their feed put them down for a nap and then you go take one too - it's been a busy morning, you deserve it!
