Visitors to the North East this autumn will be led on the largest public art trail of its kind ever to be held in the region – by a pack of Great North Snowdogs.

For 10 weeks, from September to November, streets, parks and open spaces across Sunderland, Gateshead and Tyneside, will become home to 60 giant Snowdog sculptures and over 100 little Snowdogs.

Snowdogs is inspired by the story The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, by Raymond Briggs and at 1.5m high, the large Snowdogs sculptures, will each have been individually decorated by professional artists.

The Great North Snowdogs trail will open on 19 September and a trail map, dedicated app and website will lead visitors from popular tourist destinations to lesser known areas of the region, along the route covered by the Metro system and other public transport.

Meanwhile, a separate trail of little Snowdogs, created by local school children and community groups, will also be exhibited, celebrating the talent of the young people of the North East.
