Were you an avid Beano follower? Feeling nostalgic? Here at MummyPages HQ we are extremely excited as iconic children’s comic, The Beano, is letting Dennis the Menace’s trusty sidekick Gnasher loose this summer.

This famed cartoon dog will join forces with Aardman’s triple Oscar-winning character Gromit, in a charity initiative Gromit Unleashed to raise funds for the Bristol Children’s Hospital.

So here is how it’s going to work; snippets of original Beano artwork featuring Dennis and Gnasher will transform a giant 5ft high Gromit sculpture that will feature as part of a high profile arts trail, hitting the streets of Bristol and beyong for 10 weeks from Monday 1st July.

The Beano’s larger than life sculpture ‘Gnashional Gromit’ is one of 80 giant Gromit sculptures to be featured.

The Beano joins a prestigious line-up of famous names including Nick Park, Sir Quentin Blake, Raymond Briggs, Cath Kidston, Sir Paul Smith and Harry Hill, each transforming the 5ft statues with their individual designs, alongside local artists; with further famous names and designs to be revealed in the lead up to the public arts trail.

When the trail comes to an end the Gromit Unleashed sculptures, which have been individually sponsored by businesses, will be auctioned to raise funds towards Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal’s campaign to support the expansion of Bristol Children’s Hospital, one of the leading multi-disciplinary children’s hospitals in the UK.
