Ant McPartlin, of Ant and Dec fame, recently checked out of rehab for alcohol and drug-addiction, and his mum has moved into his home with him in Newcastle.

His mum, Christine, decided to move in so she can support her son through this difficult time.

The Newcastle native spent two months in rehab this year. His wife, Lisa Armstrong - who is a make-up artist on Strictly Come Dancing - will also be helping him out as much as she can.

“He needed to go home and get back to his roots – it was just the tonic he needed. Even though he is settled in London, Newcastle will always be his true home and going back there is like going back to normality for him,” a spokesperson for the TV presenter told The Sun.

“With his family all around him to support him, and having visited his mum, he is finally getting everything back together and can start working at making things up to Lisa.”

The Biker Grove alum admitted that his wife had a difficult time when he was battling addiction and depression.

“I’ve put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you,” he said.

“I’m very sorry about the effect it has on partners. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage. She’s been very supportive. As has Dec. Time will tell (about the marriage). It’s very personal, isn’t it?” he told the Daily Mail

“He is ashamed at what he has put her through and determined to make things right,” Christine added.

Ant met Lisa at a Smash Hits tour in Newcastle in 1994, and they went out for 11 years. In 2005, he asked her to marry him while on holiday in Dubai.

The couple got married the following year in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, with Dec serving as best man.

The 40-year-old says he's on the mend and is looking forward to presenting on TV again once he has fully recovered.

We at MummyPages wish him the very best in his recovery.
