The death of a popular television star and brave mum-of-two has cast a shadow over Hollywood this weekend as family members and co-stars come to terms with the passing of Rose Siggins.

The American Horror Story actress, who was born with sacral agenesis – a deformation of the spine which considerably limits the use of the lower limbs, died in Denver on Saturday morning following kidney surgery.

It is understood that the 43-year-old actress and part-time mechanic developed an infection following the procedure from which she was tragically unable to recover.

Speaking to the press, the late star’s management team confirmed the actress’s passing, saying: “I’m sad to report that Rose has passed away this morning around 07.30am.”

Paying tribute to their former co-star who played Legless Suzi in the smash horror TV show, Angela Bassett wrote online: “Your life touched mine and made its lasting impression of love, grace, courage and beauty. God’s angels sing thee to thy rest.”

The actress who consistently demonstrated courage in the face of adversity previously told the Huffington Post that she refused to bow to her disability.

“The world doesn’t owe you anything,” she insisted at the time. “My personal opinion is get up and go for it.”

Rose, who was the proud mother of 16-year-old Luke and nine-year-old Shelby and frequently dedicated Twitter posts to the accomplishments and achievements of her two children, had her legs amputated at the age of two.

The star then learned to walk on her hands just one year later before enlisting the help of a skateboard in an effort to increase mobility.

Our thoughts go out to Rose’s children and her husband David as well as her friends and co-stars at this tremendously difficult time.
