The publishing community is in mourning this week following the passing of much-loved children's author Louise Rennison.
Best known for Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, which won the Nestlé Smarties Book Price in 1999, Louise enjoyed huge success as an author who gave a voice to teenagers as they navigated classroom politics, budding relationships and general family life.
Perfectly capturing the ups and downs of adolescence in a series of hilarious novel including It's Ok, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers and Withering Tights, Louise was lauded by both readers and those in the publishing industry.
Releasing a statement following the author's passing this week, Harper Collins said: "Nobody wrote for teenagers like she did, she understood them, their lives and their extraordinary and powerful friendships."
Extending their sympathies to Louise's family and friends, the publishing house continued: "Our thoughts are with her family, friends and the readers whose lives she has touched for almost 20 years."
Louise, who saw her book Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging hit the silver screen in 2008, died at the age of 63.
