2016 has already been a very difficult year for model Iman Abdulmajid, with the tragic loss of her legendary husband, David Bowie. Sadly, however, there has been yet more heartbreak for the mother-of-two.
Iman took to her social media channels this weekend to confirm the news of the sad passing of her mother, Maryan Baadi.
Sharing a photo from her 1992 wedding to Bowie, in which she is pictured alongside mum Maryan and dad Mohamed, she wrote: “Saddened by the death of my mom, Maryan Baadi. May Allah grant her the highest jennah.”
In a follow-up Instagram post, the 60-year-old added: “I beg that you respect my family’s privacy during our time of grief.”
Iman, who is originally from Somali, is mum to Zulekha, her grown-up daughter from her previous marriage, to Spencer Haywood; and 15-year-old Alexandria, her daughter with late husband David Bowie.
Bowie passed away on January 10, following an 18-month battle with liver cancer.
