A British mum has urged parents to cover up any exposed radiator pipes in their homes, after her nine-month-old son was left with serious burns to his hands.

In a heart-wrenching Facebook post, Cherie Davies revealed that baby son Charlie had been through ‘hell and back’ after placing his little hand on a roasting-hot pipe behind her couch.

Cherie said the incident occurred in a matter of ‘five seconds of her back being turned’.

“I feel awful. If I can prevent at least one small child [from] going through the same, then I’ll at least feel like his accident has prevented other little ones suffering,” she wrote.

Cherie went on to explain how these pipes can reach temperatures beyond 70 degrees Celsius, posing a serious risk to Baby’s delicate skin.

In accompanying photos, poor little Charlie is pictured recovering from the ordeal in his hospital bed.

“Those five seconds create days of pain and heartache on both the child and adults. Please, try and cover these pipes with insulation foam, or box them in,” she urged.

We’re wishing Charlie a speedy recovery. No doubt Cherie’s words of warning will go on to help other parents and children, too.
