Much loved Hollywood star and proud new father Ashton Kutcher hit the headlines recently when he called for more changing tables in male restrooms and it looks like the star's campaign has gained serious momentum.

Aside from the obvious impracticalities of a father being unable to tend to the needs of his child in public, it seems Ashton's cause has a deeper meaning and motivation.

Speaking about his daughter Wyatt's future, the dad-of-one said: "I would like my daughter to experience a world where gender doesn't dictate one's responsibility or limit one's opportunity."

Using changing tables in men's bathrooms as a platform to speak out on gender discrimination, Ashton goes on to say: "Having changing tables in men's rooms is just a tiny step in the process of rectifying legacy gender discrimination. Men who are aware of this bias want to participate equally in the child care process and our society should support that."

Since taking to social media to call for a change, the Two and a Half Men star has been inundated with support and as of yesterday morning, the star's petition boasts almost 75,000 signatures.

Using public support to rally businesses, the star called on retail companies, Target and Costco, to set the example for others in the industry.

Commenting on the popularity of his campaign, Ashton wrote: "It seems this idea of diaper changing stations has struck a chord. It's a pet peeve of mine when people just complain about s--t and don't do anything to improve their condition. So lets do something. In for equality? Pass it on - ‪#‎LeanInTogether"

Wishing Ashton the best of luck with his endeavour.
