Our hearts go out to Oscar winner, Julia Roberts, this weekend as she contemplates life without her beloved mum, Betty Lou.

Having passed away in February of this year, Betty Lou's devastated family held a memorial service yesterday to honour their mum before lowering the 80-year-old's ashes into the ground of the Georgia cemetery.

Prior to the service, mum-of-three Julia rented the entire cemetery in order to guarantee privacy for the family as they gathered together to remember their mother.

Betty, who died after a battle with lung cancer, was laid to rest in her hometown of Smyrna after passing away in her daughter's Malibu home earlier this year.

While Julia's eldest children, Hazel and Phinneaus, were in attendance at their grandmother's service, Julia's eight-year-old son, Henry, along with husband Danny Moder were both absent from proceedings.

Julia's biological father also battled cancer and finally succumbed to the disease in 1972 when Julia was just 10-years-old.

Julia's beloved mum was buried alongside two of her rescue dogs while a host of security guards surrounded the cemetery in order to allow the high profile family to grieve in peace.

Our thoughts go out to them today.
