No matter how true the speculation is regarding her marriage, there is one thing about Hollywood star Jennifer Garner that cannot be denied: she is a great mum.

The star – who is mum to nine-year-old Violet, six-year-old Seraphina and three-year-old Samuel – has this week opened up on the tests of motherhood, and how she has learned to deal with her little ones throwing tantrums.

Recalling a recent incident at a bike store, the 43-year-old mum said: “My littlest one saw something he wanted. I had just said, ‘We’re not buying anything’, and he threw a fit. The people at the store said to me, ‘Please let us just give this to you’, because he was so unhappy. And I said, ‘I’m sorry that he’s throwing a fit in your store, and you’re so sweet…but he’s going to have to throw a fit’. No is no.”

The Dallas Buyers Club star said that her rule when it comes to disciplining her three children is to maintain consistency – which is something that her daughters know only too well at this stage.

Adding that her rules come down to setting strict boundaries, Jennifer said: “I said to my girls, ‘What do I mean when I say no?’ And they were like, ‘She really means no!’ So you just have to do it. It’s not pretty. I don’t think that I’m always the best at it, but I try my best to be consistent and for them to know what they can expect from me.”

We're sure the bike shop incident has many of you nodding in recognition!
