Having a baby around the house definitely takes up a lot of time; while we would love nothing more than to dedicate all our time to our little ones, there are beds to make and jobs to go to.

To help our busy mums out, we have compiled a list of ways that you can get more done in a shorter amount of time.

Turn off social media

You might not realise just how long you are spending on social media. Flicking through Facebook or Twitter while you wait for the kettle to boil could be time spent emptying the dishwasher or putting a wash on.

Write a list

Write down everything you need to do in any one day and tick if off as you do it. This can free up your mind a lot in terms of what you need to do and what has been done.

Prioritise

Prioritise your list, so put the hardest and most time-consuming tasks at the top and work your way down. This way you are getting the more difficult ones out of the way first, freeing up time to fit in the other tasks.

Create a deadline

Create imaginary deadlines that you have to stick to. This could be anything from ensuring the kitchen is clean by 10am or having dinner done and dusted by 6pm. As it is your own deadline you will have to work hard to stick with it, but it will stop you procrastinating and will ensure you get all work done in a reasonable amount of time.

Get up ten minutes earlier

Try to get up before your baby does, if possible. The extra ten minutes can give you time to grab a coffee, get dressed and ready to tackle the rest of the morning tasks.

Ditch the energy slumps

Exercising at least twice a week will help ensure your energy levels stay up and you don't suffer from the 3pm slump - that half an hour can be the most unproductive part of your day.
