These days it’s not uncommon for both parents to work, and for time with your child to be limited to weekends and evenings. In fact, it’s the norm, rather than the exception. If you’re one of the many parents that want to maximise the time that you get with your child on the weekend then these tips should help.

First, make sure that you plan ahead. Get most of your grocery and routine shopping done during the week, so that you don’t have to spend hours at the supermarket on the weekend. If you do have to go to a shopping centre on the weekend, look for one that has fun activities for your child to do while you shop and enlist your partners help.

Make weekends time for games, arts and crafts, trips to the library to choose a new book, or singing songs. In fact, anything from finger painting to baking cookies with your child is a great bonding activity for your whole family. If the weather is nice, then why not plan a trip to the local park? You could even pack a picnic, and invite a few of your child’s friends along.

Alternatively, instead of staying home, why not plan a day trip to the zoo, the museum or the beach? There are plenty of fun day trips that you can plan with your preschooler.
