There is nothing quite as unpleasant as when your child has a stomach bug. The vomiting, the diarrhoea... the cleaning up.

And the worst thing? It can spread shockingly quickly around the family.

But with a little bit of careful managing on your part, maybe - just maybe - you won't catch it as well.

1. Wash your hands with warm soapy water

Especially after cleaning up their vomit or changing their nappy.

2. Make sure your CHILD washes their hands regularly

And don't just give them hand sanitiser for an easy life.

3. Disinfect the area after they have been sick (or simply just walked past)

Bleach is your best friend here.

4. Wash contaminated clothing at 60°C

This will help get rid of any germs.

5. Don't touch your face

In order to get the virus you need to ingest it, so keep your fingers away from mouth, nose and eyes.

6. Keep your little one out of the kitchen

This is one way to avoid the spread.

7. Wash your dishes in the dishwasher

Glasses, plates, knives and forks... anything your child has touched needs to go through a cycle.

8. Don't forget to wipe down things like door handles

Easy to forget, lethal if you do.
