The police are searching for a woman who was seen pushing her baby out of a train and onto the platform, just before the doors shut, leaving the seven-month-old girl alone on the platform. The woman then darted to the back of the train.
A bystander waited with the baby for twenty minutes, but when no one turned up, they rang the police who took her to the hospital to be checked over. While she had a rash on her face and bandages on her hands, she is said to be in good condition.
CCTV footage showed the woman, who is in her 20s or 30, pushing a buggy around the station earlier in the day, but police aren’t sure if the mother abandoned her child on purpose, or if something caused her to run away.
