Former Home and Away actress Tammin Sursok said she doesn’t want her three-year-old daughter growing up in LA.
Tammin, who moved to Hollywood for her career at the age of 21, told Today Extra that she doesn’t want her daughter Phoenix growing up “stressed about body image”.
“I had this big epiphany recently ... Los Angles can be so ''careful'' rather than carefree, it's just a very stressful environment,” she explained.
“We were in Santa Barbara and Phoenix was running on the beach without her shoes on and I was like 'I want that for her' ”.
The actress revealed she and her husband Sean McEwen plan to spend more time in her native Australia as Phoenix grows up.
She believes this will be crucial for her daughter to develop a healthy body image, away from the pressures of LA.
'I want her to feel free and not so stressed about her body image and beauty and all those things that don't instil strength and compassion, resilience, fortitude, all those kinds of stuff,' Tammin explained.
Tammin has always strived to promote body positivity as she was targeted by bullies as a child for being overweight.
In an emotive Instagram post last year, the brunette revealed she’d been bullied because of her weight.
Alongside a photo of herself as an adolescent, she wrote: “For all of you being bullied out there. This is me. Growing up I was overweight and spent most of my adolescence being bullied because of it.
“I definitely wasn’t the popular girl, but it didn’t define me. You can be ANYTHING you want to be in your life. It’s your choice which path you take.
“Don’t let other people’s words give you your self-worth. You are beautiful. I was beautiful. It just took me a long time to love myself. #thisisbeautiful”
Tammin also revealed that husband Sean is keen to expand their family. “He would like five kids”, she explained.
However, given that Phoenix weighed ten pounds and was born three weeks early, Tammin isn’t as keen on this number!
However, she dropped hints that the couple would be trying for another child soon, saying she’d been using an app to calculate her ovulation dates.
