After spending years on the cobbles playing Coronations Street’s Rosie Webster, it looks like Helen Flanagan is now enjoying her favourite role yet; mum to her daughter Matilda.
The 25-year-old has been speaking about how her life has changed since becoming a mum to her one-year-old.
Appearing on Loose Women on Wednesday, Helen was asked about her family life and how it’s impacted her life.
“I was lost before I was a mum.
“My life has changed massively. But completely for the better. I’m in my element being a mum.”
Helen faced her fair-share of backlash over the years especially during her time on I’m A Celebrity but it seems motherhood has helped her overcome the scrutiny and focus on what is important.
“She has made me so much happier. It changes your priorities and you realise what's important but I am completely besotted with her.
“It is really full on but you don't realise how much until you actually become a mother yourself.”
And like most mothers in the spotlight, the public have also been quick to judge Helen for her parenting choices including that to co-sleep with her daughter.
“We did do that but we have a different routine now.
“It wasn't something that we planned to do but when she was four or five months old, I was breastfeeding her and she ended up in bed with us.
“I would never want to promote sleeping with a newborn as it's dangerous. I felt guilty when I read about it. It's only when they are old enough or strong enough.”
Matilda is Helen’s first child with boyfriend, Scott Sinclair but it sounds like she won’t be the last.
“We had talked about trying for a baby last Christmas - and then we said when she's two and now we're saying when she's three, so we’ll see.”
