One thing we adore about Izzy Judd is her honesty. The mum-of-two has spoken about her struggles with IVF and miscarriage in the past, which takes a lot of courage and strength.

Today, the author opened up about the tragedy that nearly claimed her brother’s life. In an emotional Instagram post, Izzy revealed that her brother Rupert suffered a serious head injury when he was involved in a car accident 21 years ago.

Alongside a selfie she took with her husband Harry Judd and her brother, Izzy revealed that it hasn’t always been easy.

Lovely afternoon with my brother Rupert  As many of you might know he suffered a serious head injury in a car accident nearly 21 years ago and although it’s a total miracle he survived he struggles with day to day life and needs 24 hour care. His amazing carer and friend Ali bought him to see us for the afternoon which was such a treat as it’s not been easy to visit him since Kit was born. We had a lot of fun keeping Roops entertained with games of charades and UNO (which I would like to point out to @harryjudd that I won )I spend most days feeling guilty that I don’t spend enough time with him. Even though he is totally wonderful and an inspiration I would do anything to have just one conversation with my big brother before his accident again. I miss him in so many ways. #headinjury #miracle
