We have come to accept that a part of being on social media involves being exposed to those triumphant ‘before and after’ photos, in which bloggers proudly show off the results of their post-baby exercise regimes.

That is wonderful, and all successes should be celebrated – but there’s also a capacity for these posts to make those who are struggling feel low; this is why we love this mum blogger's latest post.

Unlike other celebratory ‘before and after’ shots, Mum On the Run blogger Laura’s post is celebrating her post-baby body for what it is right now – ‘jiggly tummy’ and all.

“This isn’t a before and after shot of weight loss. But it is a victory story,” she wrote, as she explained how the woman in the left-hand shot was not ‘healthy’.

While Laura admitted to missing her pre-baby body, learning to accept the strong, healthy body that produced her children has been a revelation.

“The scars and stretch marks and jiggly tummy is because I made humans. I ate a little more cake, I drank a little more wine. I made mug cakes at 9pm and snuggled on the couch with my husband,” she explained.

And despite the fact that she is still learning to love her body as it is now, she can still acknowledge its power.

“I have achieved more with this body, than I have with my old body. I've eaten more good foods. I've lived more, I've given more, I've enjoyed more. I've made life. This body, THIS body should be celebrated and admired…I should admire myself. I should love myself,” she added.

It’s not hard to see why Laura’s post has gone viral – her refreshing honesty about trying to love her new body is something that many of us can identify with. Can you?
