Our hearts were broken when we heard the unwelcome news that Fergie and Josh Duhamel had gone their separate ways. Now, Fergie has bravely spoken out about the breakdown of their marriage, on The Wendy Williams Show.

Wendy shed a positive light on their failed relationship. She said, “I’m sorry about what happened, but if it’s for the good of the two of you then that’s OK.”

A sombre Fergie sighed as she admitted a distressing truth about their relationship. She revealed, “It wasn’t my plan. I wanted to stay married forever.”

She revealed that Josh will always have a special place in her heart, despite their separation. She shared, “I love Josh. He’s the father of my child.”

The former Black Eyed Peas member stated that their son will keep their bond strong, “We will always have that project together. We are doing the best we can.”

She was reduced to tears as she spoke about co-parenting with Josh. Indeed, the conversation proved too overwhelming for Fergie, who only announced the news of their separation in September.

As Fergie discussed their love story, she continued to well up. She laughed, saying, “We’re only two minutes in, and you’re getting me teary-eyed.”

Fergie showed her strength as she continued on despite her tears. The Big Girls Don’t Cry singer explained that they had been married for eight years, “Gosh, we were married January 10, 2009. We dated five years before that and then got married.”

“Wow, you’ve been together a long time,” said TV host Wendy.

Wendy praised the pair for openly discussing their relationship woes. She shared that Josh and Fergie sat down together when they realised they were having problems.

Wendy revealed, “They had talked with each other in February, like, ‘let’s make it work’. Before we make a public announcement let’s figure out how to do this.”

Fergie and Josh released a joint statement in September, “With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year.”

The couple share one son, Axl Jack Duhamel, who is four years old.
