You were several things before you became a mother; a daughter, a sister, a student, a colleague, a friend, a girlfriend, a wife.

The list is endless, and while you still are all of those things, somehow, somewhere, you lost the personality of those people when you became a mother.

Because when you become a mum you take on several roles of motherhood which can be the most arduous and rewarding roles you'll ever play.

You'll cherish each and every moment on the journey, but sometimes you're reminded of the person you used to be, and you wonder if you'll ever get back to that point.

Mum-of-two Maddi Wright can relate to the feeling a lot, she spends her days looking after her two boys, but has admitted to becoming self-conscious because she feels it's all she ever talks about.

"Poo bums and washing baskets... yep that's about all I seem to talk about EVER. I've recently realised that 99.98 per cent of my conversations are around being a mum."

"I actually have no idea what I used to talk about before I had kids?! How did I ever fill-in grown-up conversations when I didn't have kids to speak about? What on earth did I used to talk about?"

Recently though, she has found herself fibbing about the reality of how she spends her evenings to try and curb being on repeat, a common problem of mum life.

"I'm so self-conscious about chatting about my kids too much that I've had to change my responses to questions."

For example, when asked how was your night, she will now respond 'good thanks, just chilled with wine in hand', when in reality she was vomited on and got a total of three hours sleep.

I'm so self-conscious about chatting about my kids too much that I've had to change my responses to questions like these: ‘How was your night last night?’ : Good thanks, just chilled with a wine in hand. (REAL ANSWER: I got vomited on, screamed at, and had 3 hours sleep). ‘What’d you get up to on the weekend?’ : Not much, relaxed at home. (REAL ANSWER: went park hopping, battled through gastro, did 75 loads of washing and ate my body weight in chocolate). ‘Want to come check out the new cocktail bar around the corner?’ : That looks good, let’s set a date. (REAL ANSWER: Mate, my kids are under 2.5yrs old and are not yet self-sufficient so I won’t be leaving the house after dark for at least another 10 years). #mumlife

And the best question she got asked: "Want to come check out the new cocktail bar around the corner?"

"That looks good, let’s set a date. REAL ANSWER: Mate, my kids are under two and a half years-old and are not yet self-sufficient so I won’t be leaving the house after dark for at least another 10 years."

We can all relate to Maddi's predicament here! Hilarious!
