The bravery of our fellow mothers never ceases to amaze us, and we’re pretty much in awe of mum and cancer survivor Samantha Paige today.

The 41-year-old has lit up the internet this week, proudly displaying her mastectomy scars in an inspiring and empowering advert.

Samantha posed for Equinox’s ‘Commit to Something’ campaign, and is seen getting her chest tattooed by Elena Venetia.

We are made by the commitments we make. How can that be anything less than beautiful? #CommitToSomething

The image has gone viral across social media, touching hearts and minds all over the world. And Samantha’s back-story has only added to the awe.

After beating thyroid cancer, Samantha found out that she had tested positive for the BRAC1 gene, increasing her chances of developing breast and ovarian cancer.

In an incredibly brave move, Samantha decided to undergo a double-mastectomy, to give herself the best possible chance of fending off the deadly disease.

The last 24 hours have left me speechless. I am filled with gratitude for @equinox, as they provided me the opportunity to share my personal commitment to truth, wellness and freedom on such a grand scale through the #committosomething campaign. • Today, Last Cut photographer @lisafield12 and I will start sharing some #behindthescenes photos from the shoot (shown here with the talented makeup artist, @sammymourabit. I am humbled and overwhelmed not only by the gorgeous photography @lisafield12 has contributed to Last Cut over this past year, but the friendship and support she has offered. Her presence and willingness to take this ride have allowed me the space and support to heal and grow. True friendship is a gift. {Lisa and I recorded a Last Cut Conversations podcast episode about this Equinox journey. Our conversation and an interview with @equinox Creative Director Liz Nolan will be shared next week. Podcast available now on iTunes by searching Last Cut Conversations.}

Samantha is proud of who she is and her journey, and she admitted that she has been ‘humbled by the opportunity’ to pose for Equinox’s campaign.

Instagram is full of praise too, with hordes of people branding the image ‘beautiful’ and ‘empowering’.

“Ms. Paige, you are EVERYTHING: beauty, strength, power, inspiration,” wrote one Instagrammer, summing up the general consensus.
