Its a danger to himself Katie Price considers residential care for her son Harvey

Katie Price is now considering residential care for her 16-year-old son Harvey, following her struggles to care for him.

The former glamour model and reality TV star appeared on The Victoria Derbyshire Show this morning and spoke about her son's habit of destroying TVs, windows and even eight iPads in one year alone.

The mother-of-five spoke about the public's misconception of parenting; "I don't think people realise how hard it is to care for Harvey," she said.

Price showed the host a bag of medication which she is forced to carry around 24 hours a day for Harvey, claiming that without them his life is at risk.

"It's a danger to himself and for the first time ever now I'm thinking he might have to go residential from Monday to Friday," she said, after describing his bed-wetting issues.

"Because he knows if he kicks off then the driver won't take him to school, he's sussed that out and he's missing out on his education. He just wants to be with me all the time."

"When he's smashing things, the kids are scared because he's big," she said, asking viewers not to judge her for her actions if they haven't raised a child with disabilities themselves.

"It's so hard. I've never had respite, I haven't had a carer, I do it all myself but I'm really having to think about it," she said. Katie added. "I hate it because he's my life."

In the past, she has always vehemently insisted that Harvey would always stay with her. She told Reveal magazine in 2013 that Harvey, then 11, would "always" be by her side.

"Harvey will always stay with me - I'll always have him at home," she said. "Mum says he's got to get away from me, but I just worry about him and other people's safety. I like to know where he is."

The 40-year-old also spoke about her desire to adopt another child; "I don't care if they've got disabilities," she said. "I've got so much love to give."

She shut down claims that she wouldn't be allowed to adopt considering her recent drugs trouble, saying she's already met a woman she wants to adopt from.

Price was a guest on the BBC show to promote her campaign to make online abuse a criminal offence, which has won the backing of a parliamentary committee.

Harvey, who has genetic disorder Prader-Willi syndrome, received a torrent of abuse online; his mother's petition to criminalise online bullying garnered 221,000 signatures.

Last week, MPs backed Harvey's Law – her pledge to end abuse against disabled people online.
