Eighties icon Brigitte Nielsen surprised the world when she revealed the best birthday gift she has ever had: a baby girl.

Brigitte and her husband, Italian model Mattia Dessi, celebrated her 55th birthday just last week.

She told People that they had been trying to get pregnant for over ten years, but were finally successful with in vitro fertilization.

However, this is not her first time having a child.

Brigitte had four children during her previous relationships (Raoul Meyer Jr., 23, Douglas Meyer, 25, Killian Nielsen, 28, and Julian Winding, 34).

The Danish model and actress has been married four times over the years to Raoul Meyer, Sebastian Copeland, Kasper Winding, and Sylvester Stallone.

But, it wasn’t until 2006 that she married the true love of her life Mattia, who is 15 years younger than her. The two are completely infatuated with each other.

In her interview, the actress said that she plans to raise her baby girl differently than her boys.

The couple had been anxiously awaiting the day that they could share the journey of parenthood and were delighted when the moment finally came.

As soon as Brigitte fell in love with Mattia, they made the decision to freeze her eggs, planning for a future family.

They welcomed baby Frida into the world last month. Brigitte said despite her age, there were no issues during the pregnancy or the birth.

‘It’s been a long road, and so worth it. We’ve never been more in love,’ she told the magazine.

Brigitte isn’t the only mom having kids at an older age. Statistics show that the number of women over 45 bearing children has more than doubled in 10 years.

With the availability of more options for women (IVF, surrogacy, and adoption), there has been more freedom in choosing when to become a mum. Some women simply don’t find the right guy until a little bit later on in life, while others choose to focus on their careers before having kids.

However, these unconventional ways can take much longer for mums to conceive. Brigitte and Mattia were patient for over a decade with IVF, but the waiting finally paid off.

Baby Frida is adorable, and her parents are so excited to raise their little miracle baby.
