He may be an heir to the British throne, but when it comes to parenting, Prince William really is just like us.

The prince has given possibly his most candid insight yet into parenthood, and it’s as comforting as it is touching.

William, who is dad to three-year-old George and one-year-old Charlotte, told Talk Vietnam that he’s experienced his fair share of ups and downs as a father.

“There’s wonderful highs and there’s wonderful lows. It’s been quite a challenge for me, personally. I’m very lucky in the support I have from Catherine. She is an amazing mother and a fantastic wife,” he gushed.

William is known for his humble nature, and he was totally honest when talk turned to the challenges of being a husband and a parent.

“I’ve struggled at times – the alteration from being a single, independent man to going into marriage and then having children is life-changing. I adore my children very much, and I’ve learned a lot about myself and about a family, just from having my own children,” he said.

Expressing his dislike for the ‘materialism of the world’, the 34-year-old admitted he would like to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte grow up ‘a little bit more simple in their approach and their outlook’.

We can all learn a lesson or two from this devoted father. Well done, William!
