Jimmy Kimmel's fourth child, Billy, was born in April this year with a rare congenital heart defect, Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with pulmonary atresia.

The condition affects about one out of every 2,000 newborns. The heart defect makes it so that Billy has difficulty getting oxygen in his blood.

Billy underwent his first surgery when he was only three days old. He will have to have multiple surgeries during his lifetime because of TOF.

On December 4 the seven-month-old had his second surgery, and according to ABC the scheduled operation was 'successful'.

The morning of the surgery, Jimmy's wife and co-head writer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Molly McNearney, implored other parents to be grateful for their kids' health

What an important message, especially during this time of year.

Molly and Jimmy have two children together: Billy and three-year-old daughter Jane. The late-night host is also father to Katie, born in 1991, and Kevin, born 1993, with ex-wife Gina Maddy.

While his youngest recovers, Jimmy is taking time off and welcoming a series of 'celebrity Samaritan' guest hosts, according to ABC.

Neil Patrick Harris is hosting on December 6 and Melissa McCarthy is bringing her comedic talent to Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 7.

We are happy to hear the surgery was successful!
