Hope has been restored to a new father in the US, who has received several job offers after being fired for attending his newborn son’s birth.

Lamar Austin was in the middle of a 90-day trial period for a permanent job with a private security group, when wife Lindsay went into labour.

Under the conditions of his trial period, Lamar had to be on call throughout the day and night – and his prospective employer had no sympathy for the plight of the dad-to-be.

After rushing to Lindsay’s bedside last Friday when her labour started, Lamar received a text message saying his trial contract had been ‘terminated’.

Lamar and Lindsay’s son, Cainin, arrived into the world on Sunday morning – and the proud father was there for every minute of the journey.

Cainin was the first baby born in the state of New Hampshire in 2017, and when local media arrived on the scene to report, Lamar shared his story.

People were outraged by the consequences of Lamar’s actions, and a number of individuals decided to do something to make a difference.

While one local launched a GoFundMe page (link here) to support the family, three other businesses made job offers to Lamar.

Speaking to local newspaper the Concord Monitor, Lamar gushed: “Sometimes you lose something and you get something even better.”
