She previously described her father’s absence from her life as a ‘blessing’, and Kate Hudson has this week said she now forgives her estranged father for walking out of her life as a child.

The actress – herself, a mother-of-two – admitted that while she and Bill Hudson are not in contact now, she bears no ill-feeling towards him.

“I really do recognise whatever those issues are. It’s just something that he has to live with, and that must be painful for him. So I forgive him,” she said, in an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

While the Almost Famous star admitted her father’s absence left her with ‘self-worth’ issues, mum Goldie Hawn’s partner, Kurt Russell, has been a wonderful support.

“When you have a father like Kurt who’s sort of been there for the hard stuff…the thing is, he's not a perfect man, no one is, but the trust that I got from him in terms of his dependability was just priceless for me,” she gushed.

Kate is mother to two sons: 12-year-old Ryder, and five-year-old Bingham.
