Actress Kate Hudson spoke openly about the difficulty she had in losing her baby weight after she gave birth to her son Bingham, now three.

The star doesn't believe that some celebrities drop pounds effortlessly after giving birth. "If you want to lose baby weight, I think it's a very rare thing for women to do it without doing anything," she said.

"I mean, scientifically, that's the craziest thing I've ever heard."

Kate said that she found it hard to come to terms with the slow pace of her own weight loss. "I'd lose 10lbs and then I'd plateau at 150 and stay there forever," she said.

The lack of quick results took its toll on Kate. "It was really discouraging," she said.

"That moment where you have to push through it is really emotional. You get down on yourself, you get discouraged. But like anything, if you want to be successful you have to put the hours in."

Her verdict on losing baby weight? "It's hard work." We're sure she's not the first mum to say that!
